Magnetic Island

Stop number 3 - Magnetic Island. Another 2-3 hours and a ferry further south from Mission beach, Magnetic is absolutely beautiful.
The hostel was amazing, right on the beach with modern huts (above) for rooms. I found out later this was the "party hostel" out of the two on the island, so the first night was spent with other travellers (prev. from Mission Beach), and others at the trivia night with a few drinks - it was super fun.
Next day we visited the island's famous koala sanctuary and saw lots of other Aussie animals too - crocs, lizards, a wombat etc. I got to cuddle the koala too! The rest of that day was spent having a lovely mexican lunch, and relaxing at the quieter YHA hostel where a couple of my friends were staying.
On the last day there, we wanted to complete the famous Forts Walk on the island, which takes you to a highpoint and gives some amazing views. We decided to set out early (10am), but it was still roasting - we were pouring with sweat all the way up the hill, but managed to complete the walk and see some amazing views - see below!
