Cairns days 3 & 4

Hello! Sorry it's taken a while to add more onto here - luckily for good reason, I have been busy!
So back to Cairns, I spent my 3rd day on my first "tour" of the trip - I took some recommendations from girls in my hostel room and booked a trip with a company called Barefoot, of the waterfalls and lakes around Cairns.
It was an early start - 7am or so at the hostel, picked up in a bright orange VW/van. Turns out it was a really good group, out of 12 or so of us, most were Brits and really friendly, and we got on very well as a team. We visited waterfalls, lakes and points of natural beauty around in the rainforest near Cairns all day long, returning around 8pm. It was a great day, our guide Arthur knew a lot about the area, and Aus in general, and was great at making us all feel safe and at ease. There was one small drama - one of the girls in our group was walking around a lake and touched a tree - turns out it was the most poisonous plant, known imaginatively as the stinging plant. She had terrible pain in her hand where she had touched the tree, and had to go to hospital when back in the city - apparently the pain hangs around for months and spreads right up the arm - it can kill if your whole body is afflicted!!

My last day in Cairns was a travelling day - my bus to my next stop was early afternoon so I checked out of my hostel in the morning and went to the cinema, mostly to get out of the heat (it was around 40 degrees) to see the Fantastic Beasts film (less said about that the better!)

Onto Mission Beach!
