Hello!
From Agnes Water, I traveled onto Hervey Bay - another beachside town, most visited as a way to get to Fraser Island, which is the largest sand island in the world!
I had a day and a half in Hervey before going on my Fraser trip, with which I mostly explored the local area, hired a bike, relaxed, read and crossed my fingers that the weather would improve! Following the storm whilst I was at Agnes Water, we had a few solid days of bad weather, lots of rain and high winds - lots of fun when you're on a bike!
The Fraser trip was a 2 day, 1-night exploration with a company, organised in order to show the most of the island, and of course, always good to attend local tours to meet people and not stress about transfers/ accommodation etc.
Early start on day 1, I was collected from my hostel at 7.3o by bus, and we made our way to the Island, where we started our real adventures at about 10.
We started off visiting Lake Mackenzie, a huge, fresh water lake on the island, ideal for relaxing and swimming... except when its pouring with rain, which it was!
We visited a couple of other lakes/ viewpoints that day, and did a 5k trek through the rainforest - the picture above was a very interesting tree I saw.
Second day was similar, visiting all the interesting points on the island including a flowing creek which we floated down on rubber rings, a collection of beautiful natural rock pools known as the Champagne Pools (see below)
We also saw some interesting wildlife - including the famous local dingos and a GIANT spider - my first of the trip.
There was a group of nice girls on the trip, so that was good, and despite the weather, Fraser was beautiful :)
